Gail Winbury is the Artist in Resident at the CO-CO Connection in Summit NJ.  This state-of-the-art co-working and empowerment space for women is in a stunningly designed building with a one-woman exhibition of her paintings.  Originally, Winbury was tasked with providing an artist talk where the focus would be directly on her artistic process. Instead they requested she “tell her story”

The Midday Club of San Miguel de Allende is pleased to present another of our women empowerment series this month with Gail Winbury.  Ms. Winbury will tell her story of a good life. This illustrated talk centers on the development and expression of two threads in Winbury’s life: psychology and art. The talk demonstrates the origins and result of selecting one path over another.

As a successful practicing psychologist, Winbury worked at a University in a position coveted by many. She left after a few years starting a private practice.  Later in life, she reduced her thriving practice and began training to become a professional artist. The talk includes a power-point with Winbury’s art as well as others and will last approximately 25 minutes along with a period of question and answer.

Gail Winbury was born in Chicago, growing up in New Jersey. In collage she studied art, psychology, literature and sociology. The Vietnam war raged, and she dropped out of school and became deeply involved in social activism. Eventually returning to school, Winbury studied psychology. She received her Doctorate in Psychology, later moving to New Jersey working as a psychologist at Rutgers University. Ultimately Winbury walked away from her career as a psychologist to become a professional artist.   She has had over 8 one-woman exhibitions throughout the United States, Germany, Italy and now in Mexico.  Gail’s work can be seen at gwinburypainting.com and on Instagram @gwinburystudio.

Join us for an inspiring presentation Tuesday, February 18th as the Midday Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende presents Gail Winbury – from Psychology to Artist.
