    Tuesday, February 4th

    Los Arcos
    Stirling Dickinson 27

    By: Skip Essick

Mexican history is everywhere. Getting off the beaten path reveals scenic roads, never to be forgotten views, and lots of local charm and culture.   This Tuesday’s guest speaker knows a lot about that.  Lorie Topinka, co author of the new book “Traveling the Back Roads of San Miguel—Snippets of Paintable History” will share what she has discovered as well as what she has projected into art.

Lorie Topinka along with co-author Linda Whynman have been painting watercolors of the countryside around San Miguel since 2013 and previously published The Capillas of San Miguel de Allende:  A Legacy of Faith. Their second book details their explorations and features 75 of their watercolors. For the past 6 years, they’ve traveled the back roads around San Miguel de Allende, painting watercolors of the numerous capillas and more recently adding haciendas, bridges, dams, and other historic structures to their painting repertoire.  In their second book, Traveling the Back Roads of San Miguel—Snippets of Paintable History, Lorie and Linda document with their paintings and writing the cultural patrimony of the countryside around San Miguel de Allende.  If you’re into local history and the local art scene, you won’t want to miss Ms. Topinka’s presentation as she details highlights of local history and the art from their newest book.  You’re invited to join us this Tuesday, February 4th for this very interesting and informative program.

The Midday Club of San Miguel de Allende meets every Tuesday.  Doors open at 9 AM, the meeting begins at 9:30 AM. We’re located at Los Arcos at #27 Sterling Dickinson. February is Women’s Empowerment Month at the Midday Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende.  Throughout the month we will feature dynamic speakers that showcase the dynamic women in our community.

Rotary is where neighbors, friends and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders and take action to create lasting change. For more information, contact President Gary Peterson at gpeterson41@gmail.com
