  • They will be scheduled by appointments by Jurisdiction II.

The CAISES San Miguel de Allende announced that from this Wednesday, January 19 to Friday, January 21, it will sterilize pets in the municipality of San Miguel de Allende.

Through appointments scheduled by Jurisdiction II, the Sterilization Day of dogs and cats (males and females, from 4 months of age) begins, a total of 20 pets per day will be scheduled.

In addition, appointments are already scheduled to go out to the communities of Soria on the 26th, at the Allende Dam on the 27th and on the 28th of January in Flores de Begoña, so people who arrive without a scheduled appointment are not attended.

“All this due to the contingency situation that is lived in the municipality and State of Covid-19, to avoid contagion and agglomerations in the places where animals are operated,” said Veterinary Physician Adriana Gutiérrez Morales, responsible for the rabies program in Sanitary Jurisdiction 2.

He pointed out that the most important thing is to maintain a better control of  overpopulation and more in animals in street situations, “it avoids having an animal that wanders without an owner, in addition it prevents packs of dogs from being made and attacking people.”

In addition, he commented that in male cats it is avoided that they try to be constantly going out to look for cats, they are not exposed to dangers such as fights with dogs or other cats it will also help them avoid other types of diseases and in dogs in the same way it is avoided that they go out to look for females that possibly have some disease and can be infected.

The animals have a better quality of life, for example, in females they are prevented from breast cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer.

A kitten on average can have 3 to 6 kittens per litter and a year they can reproduce 3 to 4 times, and these at 6 months are already of reproductive age, so it is important that they sterilize, said Gutierrez Morales.

After surgery the recovery time avoiding licking is 7 days, if they are not careful it can last up to a month and a half due to the laceration that they cause themselves, Adriana Gutiérrez concluded.
