Joe Lim, co-founder.of S.O.M.E. (So Others May Eat) passed away on Tuesday. He and his wonderful wife, Antonieta (who died two years ago) established a weekly free lunch program which served hundreds of thousands of meals to elderly citizens over a a 29-year period.
For their dedicated work, these two special people were honored by Midday Rotary several years ago as “Citizens of the Year.” Both are now gone. Joe’s passing leaves another empty space in my heart and the hearts of so many who had the privilege to work with the family on this amazing project.
There will be a memorial Mass at 12 Noon at the Parroquia Church on Wednesday for this generous man. Hundreds are expected to turn out, so try to arrive early.
