I REALLY wanted to be able to write them a good review. In the beginning, they were wonderful. Great communication, easy to deal with, the price was right. The issues started after belonging were picked up. The communication started to falter, and I kept getting contradicting messages. When my items arrived, there were several things missing.
Examples of conflicting correspondences:
“Our next trailer will be loaded in a few days. And will be arriving around between June 7th – 14th.”
“I was waiting to hear from Logistics. Your items are in Laredo and will be loaded on the next trailer – should start loading in 2 days and be here by next week.”
“We had two trucks loaded side by side, but your items were not in the loaded list. Yes, your items are still in Laredo, TX waiting for the OK from our broker for crossing, this truck should be arriving by the end of this week or Monday at the latest. (June 21st – 24th).”
I had been told the first week of June that my belonging were in the Laredo warehouse. Then I was told they didn’t arrive until the end of June. They had collected my belongings May 15. Where were they for ONE MONTH? I wrote to the owner/manager(?) David to get clarity on it all; he never had the courtesy of responding.
Finally received a photo of my things loaded into their truck, but there were two large plastic tubs tucked in with my boxes. I alerted them that those plastic tubs did not belong to me, and even stated my concern about the likelihood of some of MY belongings ending up in someone else’s shipment. I was assured that it could not happen.
Finally, July 12 I received my belongings. MULTIPLE things missing; several boxes had been opened. I understand that it can occur in customs, but two of the box’s sides had been slashed opened and the packing peanuts were spilling out– they didn’t bother to re-tape it shut. But the most heartbreaking was that photographs of myself and brother when we were children were gone. My brother passed away at 21, and those were the only photos I had of him.
I immediately contacted Cindi, Gloria and Jenifer and asked them to please contact whoever’s belongings were in the truck/warehouse with mine to see if they accidentally received my belongings. They said they would.
After SIX WEEKS and not hearing anything, I received an email from them with “We will be reaching out to all the clients that arrived in your trailer in a systematic fashion,” meaning they had yet to make those phone calls. That was August 27; it is now September 24 and I have still not heard a thing. To date, there are 16 items of mine that never made it here.
Zoom-a-Lo took care of a multi-step, complicated move for us recently. When we sold our house in San Miguel, they carefully packed everything up for us in absentia and stored it at their warehouse in Mexico for several months while we figured out what we were doing. When we eventually bought a new house in the States, they sent a truck to pick up our belongings at a rental house we were living in in Texas and merged that shipment with our Mexican house stuff and delivered everything safe and sound to our new home in New Mexico. We moved a lot of folk, including fragile ceramics, which came through with flying colors. All of the Zoom-a-lo team members we interacted with–from the office to the warehouse to the drivers–were professional, good-natured, and honest. We highly recommend their services.
We’ve been using Zoo-a-lo since 2013, and we’re still using them. They moved us from Hudson, NY, in 2013; picked up furniture for us in Stamford, CT; accepted shipments for us at their Texas warehouse numerous times; and just last Thursday picked up a small shipment in Naples, FL for us.
Zoom-a-lo is not what I’d refer to as a “white-glove” shipper, but they get the job done at a reasonable price and in a timely fashion. I have complete confidence in Ian and his staff and highly recommend the company.
I want to tell everyone about my wonderful experience with Zoom-A-Lo moving.
I recently used them to move me back to Texas, they were incredibly professional, efficient, and courteous.
I was even fortunate enough to follow the owner Ian back to the border. It was too late in the day for him to drive a commercial truck across into Texas but he went out of his way another 30 minutes, or so to get me close enough that I was able to cross safely.
I am truly indebted to him and to their great moving company!
This is a huge endorsement for Jenifer and her team at Zoom a Lo moving company regarding my recent move from San Miguel de Allende to Merida. I arranged for the move about 6 months prior to the move date, which unfortunately occurred right in the middle of this pandemic. When flights and buses etc were all being cancelled, Zoomla packed up my stuff in San Miguel and got it to Merida exactly on time. Unfortunately, not all my items fit on the truck, but in less then three weeks, the few remaining items arrived safe and sound.
I had never met Jenifer before this, and I had never used her company. I found out about Zoom a Lo on the civil list. I have to say this is likely the most professional move I have ever had in my life. Every single item was taken into inventory, wrapped like a Fabergé egg, and delivered in good shape and at a very reasonable cost. The moving guys were professional, kind and very organized, speaking Spanish and English. I have read so many horror stories of people moving to or within Mexico and have heard more than my share of issues about the process. Regardless, this was my very good experience of my move AND it all happened in the middle of a pandemic (when many moves were being cancelled, or delayed, etc)
I used Zoomalo… They came to pick up my belongings in Maryland within a half hour of their estimate time of arrival. They were caring and efficient… took care of all the paperwork for me, and were about half the price of Golden Bear.
Believe it or not, I have used Ian Fultz of ZOOM for boith. from the States to Mexico and from Mexico to the States. He’s very honest, reliable, etc. I have used him for art, such as paintings, sculpture, etc. and I know he also does householditems. He moved a houseful of furniture from Arizona to San Miguel for friends of mine. All went well.
My friends and I have used Zoom-a-Lo and could not be more pleased. Everything was beautifully packed, bubble or shrink wrapped, or crated as needed. If there was damage, the item was repaired perfectly and quickly. I was reimbursed, without question, for a few missing items.
I have only positives to say about this exceptional, local moving company. Zoomalo not only gave me a highly competitive pricing, but impeccable, friendly, no custom-complications service. If ever I need a local moving company for any of my household belongings, I’ll go straight to Zoomalo!
A few weeks ago I entrusted my mother’s vintage Rosenthal china, replete with everything from demitasse cups and saucers to softboiled egg cups to soup tureens (plural), to cake platters to 16 dinner and salad/dessert plates, to Zoomalo to pack and ship to my niece in California.
They did an exemplary job, and the boxes arrived in California with NO breakage, even though some of the teapots and coffeepots had fragile spouts and handles.
My niece is thrilled and so am I.
Thank you, Zoomalo and Jenifer Phillips.

A satisfied customer,
We recently moved to SMA. The company we used was Zoom a Lo. Owner, Ian Fultz, was personally involved to ensure that the move from North Carolina went well. All of our furniture was wrapped with blankets and shrink wrap.
We had over 100 boxes plus several rooms of furniture. Everything arrived on schedule without any damage. Ian, Jenifer Phillips, and their associates were very professional. The cost to move through Zoom a Lo was less than other companies that made proposals. We highly recommend Zoom a Lo. BTW, Ian’s wife is the owner of Livinia’s Framing in San Antonio..
