Turk Restaurant: Mediterranean Street Food

On the road to Celaya, on what has become a “gastronomical route” for locals and visitors, you can find many delightful meals. But few will resonate as strongly as Turk. The industrial, minimalistic decoration is deceptively simple, but every detail has been thought and worked over and over, designed to bring an experience of flavor and comfort, right from the moment you step above the delicate floor tiles that resemble a Persian rug.
Ali Sarraf has made an almost “full circle” coming back to the land of his ancestors – his grandmother, who was from San Luis Potosi, cooked in the kitchens of Pancho Villa all those years ago.
Of Persian/Mexican origin, he felt there was a void for this kind of cuisine and set out to open Turk and provide an alternative that is outstanding in craft, essence, and flavor. Their concise, well-crafted menu is mouthwatering: hummus, baba ganoush, crispy falafel, juicy kebabs, all perfectly cooked and masterfully executed. Try one of the mezze platters and then, order a kebab, sit back and enjoy one of the nicest meals in town.
The commitment and dedication to the business are palpable – over 30 years in the food and beverage industry have helped Ali hone the special skill of “… having the ability to “see”…to see and understand my clients needs while we are in service”.
As a San Miguel resident, Ali enjoys eating out “Anything “street food”, ie tacos, or anyplace where abuelita is involved…it’s the essence of Mexico, where love/food is given by hand to mouth!” On his own words, he enjoys this line of work “…because I am nuts. I suppose keeping in touch with people really drives me, I’m a social animal.”
This project is a work in progress – slowly cooked, taking its time like a nicely seasoned bit of lamb – so be sure to keep an eye out for novelties – soon, you will be able to get a delicious brunch on the weekends.
Visit anytime from 1pm-9pm, Tuesday thru Sunday. And save space for Ali’s homemade Persian ice cream. You won’t regret it.

I just wanted to be sure everyone remembered that Turk is still operating and has the most wonderful food… We’ve ordered from Ali a few times now and always, always enjoy it. It’s easy to order on WhatsApp or phone 415-109-6287, or on Facebook messenger (no Spanish required) — Facebook ‘Turk Mediterranean Street Food’ — and delivery is always as promised. Bonus: he carries Dos Aves beer, Don’s favorite, which you can add to your order :-). Buen provecho!
Best Falafel EVER (anywhere!)
They serve the falafel on an in-house fresh-baked flat bread instead of one of those cardboard pitas that everybody else uses. The falafels themselves also taste very fresh (as opposed to from a mix). Served with chopped fresh veggies and a light yoghurt tahini sauce. I can’t wait to try everything else on the menu!
Oh, and nice decor and easy parking, mostly on that side road across the street.
Yesterday my wife and I and 2 friends went to the new Mediterranean restaurant Turk on Ceyala.
It’s a little south of Cinco de May on the east side of the street. The place was lovely and the food was delicious. Ali the owner came over to our table and spent a lot of time talking to us which made us felt
more welcome. The menu is very small at this time but he said he is slowly expanding it. At this point they
are waiting for a full liquor license but currently do serve beer. You’re welcome to bring you own wine.
thank you Don Day for recommending this place.

The fairly new restaurant Turk (located on Salida a Celaya 16) has quickly become one of my favorite eateries in town. The food is Mediterranean, more specifically Donor Kebab. Their food is fresh and delicious. I love the atmosphere/ design and the owner Ali is engaging, experienced and on top of every detail.
They serve artisan beers and their pistachio and rose water ice cream is not to be missed. I have ordered it to go several times as dessert for dinner guests.
Hours are 12 to 9 Tuesday thru Saturday. 12 to 6 on Sunday. Closed Monday.

My friend and I tried the new Turk Restaurant tonight. The food was very delicious. Had a great Turk salad, wholesome, healthy and light. My friend had a lamb burger and with sweet potatoes fries and loved it. Address is: Salida Celaya 16. Right across from the new Panio bakery. 415 105-6287. Ali the owner is a delight. I know you will not be disappointed.
People on the Civil List have been raving about this new restaurant and we just had to give it a try. Great food, friendly service and you must give the Persian Ice Cream a try.
I had the lamb and beef kabob and it was seasoned perfectly.
