Just enjoyed a slice of really good pizza at Pizza Guy. Joe took over the Pizza Pig location, but that’s where the similarity stops. He makes a really mean, Italian pizza. Price may be just a little more than other pizzerias, but just a minimal amount and it is worth every penny [and more]. Really abbondonte–Definitely NOT your standard take-out.
They have other Italian specialties on the menu and, if anything like their pizza, a “must try.”
Stop in…….closed Mondays and Tuesdays. You won’t be disappointed.

Let’s talk about something that has no controversy…Pizza from the Pizza Guy! Just had our first opportunity to stop by the Pizza Guy for a REAL Pizza last night on our way to see The Odd Couple. Well there was nothing odd about our delicious pizza. I am a bit old fashioned in my pizza tastes and prefer pepperoni and Italian sausage with some fresh bell pepper slices. And that is exactly what we got and it was delicious. We ordered the large and had enough to bring home for a snack after the play and still had a couple of slices for breakfast! The crust was crisp enough but the fixings were very good. Joe and his wife operated a “pizza joint” in upstate NY for many years before the weather got to the, and they moved to SMA. Our gain and NY’s loss.
Eat in, take out or delivery! And not just pizza, they have a pretty comprehensive Italian menu so give them a try. Located on the Libramiento between Independencia and Bodega and convenient to a returno the Pizza Guy is easy to get to. Joe took the space previously occupied by Pizza Pig but the pizza and Italian dishes are all by Joe and his wife from their authentic New York recipes. Being from Texas, I never thought I would say, “Made in New York City” and mean it as a compliment! The pizza is outstanding!
Now on to Juan’s Green Olive for another Italian fix. SMA is truly blessed with an abundance of great restaurants and Joe’s Pizza Guy and Juan’s Green Olive are two of the best!
Hubby and I were disappointed when Pizza Pig closed. A huge delight and surprise when it reopened and we gave it a try thanks to this positive review. It is excellent! Of course, how could a Sicilian not make great pizza, right? But, they have also expanded the menu to other Italian favorites, like spaghetti with their homemade meatballs, etc. And, they DO deliver! Joe, the Sicilian half, and his wife, Ana, the Mexican half, are a talented and delightful team. They had a Pizza Guy store for many years in New York. Sicilian. New York. Yes, this couple knows their pizza.

PIZZAGUY bought out Pizza Pig. They’ve upgraded the interior, the kitchen and the pizza oven. Their menu is entirely new so don’t expect to get a Pizza Pig dessert pizza.
An Italian-American guy from upstate New York with 40+ years operating Italian restaurants should know how to make a really good NY-style pizza. Joe is just such a guy. Even though Joe and his wife Ana first visited San Miguel de Allende just last November, they’ve made the adjustments for altitude necessary to get great crust coming out of their upgraded pizza oven and they are up and running out of the old Pizza Pig location. I really like that their dough is made fresh daily.
Of course, opinions over pizza nuances will no doubt flush out some naysayers here. But search for “PIZZAGUY San Miguel de Allende” on Facebook and you’ll find our PIZZAGUY along with a few reviews from his heartbroken Oneonta, NY customers. Then again, what the hell do New Yorkers know about NY pizza? I guess we’ll all have to try them and answer for ourselves.
PIZZAGUY uses WeGo for delivery. There’s a small delivery charge.

PIZZA PIG NEWS!!!! Sorry to report that our number one guy/manager Juan Antonio is moving from San Miguel and will be starting a new career elsewhere. You still have a few more weeks to stop in and say goodbye. Also if you know of someone who could attempt to fill his position please send them in for an interview. Must be bilingual and have restaurant experience.
Thank you!
p.s. don’t forget today and every Wednesday buy any large pizza and get the second one of lesser or equal value for half price!!!
