Small restaurant—indoor (with fireplace) and outdoor dining Pleasant and intimate atmosphere

Chamonix’s specialty is Swiss steak or beef medallions wrapped in ham and cheese.

They also serve national and international dishes such as chiles poblanos, Sri Lankan curry, Vietnamese spring rolls and a variety of fresh pastas.

The outdoor terrace is a lovely site for a romantic dinner.

The pretty garden atmosphere at this restaurant offers an upmarket, if relaxed, setting and a high-quality international menu and regional specialties. Organic produce is used where possible.

My first stop in San Miguel proved also to be one of the best. At Chamonix, Chef Ana Lilia Galindo Chávez serves a sophisticated but unpretentious interpretation of Mexican cuisine. Her small menu, featuring lovely homemade soups and pastas, salads, appealing appetizers and entrees, quickly became my favorite lunch spot. The understated garden setting adds to the already charming dishes. Artichoke soup is simple, flavorful and light: a perfect pairing for Chamonix’s signature salad of pear, spinach, walnuts and Roquefort. The pasta, tossed in lemon sauce with prawns, is fresh, delicate and tasty. For a main course, try the Swiss Fillet, topped with blackened onions and served in a chipotle, sun dried tomato and rosemary sauce. To thoroughly revel in your meal, end with a slice of her delightful key lime pie.

We really enjoy this quaint little restaurant with sophisticated but unpretentious cuisine that the chef calls “French” but is really more international. The restaurant is owned and run by chef Ana Lilia Galindo, who started the restaurant with the assistance of her nephew, Chef Allen Williams, who now owns and operates The Food Factory at Fabrica Aurora. You can choose to sit inside by the fireplace or in the interior patio garden, both of which are darling. We like the potato pancake, and the Swiss filet. The restaurant is very small, so be sure to make reservations to ensure a table.
