Orthopedic and Neurological Physical Therapy
Therapeutic exercise and functional training : activities and exercises that are designed to strengthen weak muscles, correct muscle imbalances, improve flexibility, and/or re-route neural pathways to change patterns of movement.Modalities are treatments applied to the patient that have the general goal of reducing inflammation/pain and promoting healing by increasing blood flow. Modalities include cold packs, hot packs, ultrasound treatments, electrical stimulation. There are others but these are the most common.Manual therapy is a general term referring to various types of hands-on treatments delivered by the physical therapist. This can include massage, stretching, joint mobilization, or manual traction.I am trained in Graston technique which is a type of Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization. The goal is to break down scar tissue and fascia restrictions that are commonly associated with a trauma to the soft tissue (for example, pulled ligament, strained muscle, post surgical). This works by rearranging the structure of the tissue being treated (muscle, tendons, fascia, ligaments). It also works by increasing circulation to provide an optimal healing environment for the soft tissue. Balance/fall risk assessment and treatment: Includes a thorough intake assessment of areas that may be contributing to falls, issuance of a home program and thorough re-assessment at end of treatment to pinpoint areas to work on at home to prevent falls.

I would like to HIGHLY recommend physical therapist , Abby Abbot.
She is professional, knowledgable, and understanding – as someone who actively uses their body I needed a therapist who could listen, help me see things from a different perspective and augment what I was already doing. I look forward to our sessions!
For any issue, I recommend her check out her website for her specialty in hip/pelvis/pelvic floor.
A huge asset to the community in San Miguel
