Pediatric Dentistry

As parents we must see if our children are protected against cavities or if they already have them. We should also identify any habits or any conditions that can alter the growth and development of the bones of the face and teeth. When children present these problems they can face important issues in language development, nutrition, and facial aesthetics and therefore damage their self-esteem and psychosocial development.

A Pediatric Dentist should promote preventive dentistry and provide all the information related to a dental care needed for a child. Tooth development begins during the 5th week of intrauterine life, breast-feeding is very important for the child´s facial growth. We recommend a visit to the Pediatric Dentist during the first couple of months after the child´s birth. Baby teeth are very important for the child´s facial growth; they maintain the space for the permanent dentition. They play a very important role in aesthetics, mastication and language (communication).

Root canal treatments are required when we have an infection in the pulp (dental nerve); this treatment helps us eradicate the infections so that the tooth can be restored with a crown.

• When your dentist needs to restore your tooth with a crown and the pulp (dental nerve) is very close to the tissue that it is being prepared.
• When caries has reached the tooth´s pulp.
• When a tooth fractures due to trauma and the pulp is compromised.

Maxillofacial surgery

We have trained specialists for this type of surgeries and treatments. One of the more frequent surgeries are third molar extractions.
