Consecrated in 1965, St. Paul’s Anglican (Episcopal) Church is the local parish of the Anglican Diocese of Mexico, one of six Anglican dioceses in the Province of Mexico. We are a liturgical Church…some people have difficulty distinguishing Anglican from Roman Catholic liturgical expression. In practice, we are open and inclusive, welcoming folks from all walks of life, gay folks, those who have experienced divorce, and those who are not quite certain where they are on their spiritual journey.
We are strongly committed to our local community of San Miguel de Allende with significant local non-profit service organizations having begun at St. Paul’s. Pro Musica, founded at St. Paul’s and now in an independent yet collaborative relationship, is a vital expression of our commitment to the arts, to expanding cultural competency among non-nationals and to social engagement. We like the Ministry of Fun.
Our Rector, The Reverend Canon George F. Woodward III, arrived in 2018 and is assisted by The Reverend Padre Miguel de Jesus Rangel Hernandez. We are very blessed by the presence and involvement of additional retired clergy, including The Reverend Canon Francis N. Hebert.
Our Sunday 9 AM and 10:15 AM services are in English, and our 12 PM services are in Spanish. We hold bilingual services for special occasions. We have a robust calendar of social fellowship events which combine both English and Spanish speaking members of our community.
Many snowbirds arrive during the colder northern months, and others arrive to escape hotter climates. A solid permanent community sustains our transient membership, and our numbers of young people able to work remotely and Mexican and other families with young children and teens continue to grow. You will find a warm welcome and perhaps a spiritual home at St. Paul’s.

Canon George Woodward is currently Rector, and he is very gifted in so many ways. He delivers wonderful sermons each week and really cares about his congregation. He speaks Spanish fluently, and obviously, he loves life in Mexico. We feel very comfortable and welcome being a part of the fellowship at St. Paul’s when in San Miguel de Allende part-time.
Having been raised in the Episcopal Church, I find it unique and wonderful that St Paul’s has Bishop William Gregg as the current minister. He is most knowledgeable, filled with spiritual insights and church history . I particularly think he has a gift for offering a sermon worthy of reflection.
