The Pro Musica Youth Chamber Orchestra is a 42-member ensemble based in San Miguel at the historic Bellas Artes Centro Cultural “El Nigromante” where we have been the orchestra-in-residence since 2017. We provide monthly Sunday concerts in the Miguel Malo Auditorium from 12:30 – 1:30 pm. Small ensembles such as quartets, made up of members of our complete orchestra also present their concerts in the Bellas Artes “Alternate Sundays” series.
The orchestra is composed of musicians from the Celaya Conservatory, the universities of Guanajuato and Queretaro faculties of music and top young professionals from leading ensembles. It’s a fabulous group of young concert artists!
The quality of their performances of full-score selections from Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Sibelius, Holst and Brahms has not gone unnoticed, having captured the imagination of board members from the Chicago Symphony, the Portland Symphony and members of visiting Canadian symphony orchestras!
Our concerts for the general public are well on the way to becoming traditions for Mexicans, foreign residents and visitors who fill the auditorium for each performance.
As Pro Musica’s Vice President, Director of Education Outreach, Orchestra Director and Conductor, I am asking audience members who regularly attend these concerts and newcomers who are committed to music education to join me in ensuring the orchestra’s continued success through a 100, 250, 500 pesos or “flexible amount” donation, using the PayPal link provided below:
These donations will be used to supplement our current operating budget, which is not sufficient to keep up with our growing membership and reputation. Minimum contribution is 100 pesos. My heartfelt thanks goes out to those who decide to donate more!I hope to establish a permanent fund for future expenses related to concerts, scholarships and much more. Your contribution will help make it all happen. We plan to kick off our fall season with selections and complete masterworks from Mozart, Beethoven, Holst, Sibelius and Brahms!
