Three famous tourist sites in Mexico and how much it costs to visit them

Mexico is a country full of tourist wonders that enchant many for its landscapes and cultural diversity. However, sometimes people do not know which are the most popular destinations because of their charm, price, and attractions. If there are still no plans for the weekend, these recommendations may help solve that problem. Although there are several places to visit, today we highlight three of the most visited destinations.

The last days of the week are usually the favorite of most people who have to work from Monday to Friday or even for those who study, for this reason sometimes you want to go out for a walk to enjoy a family meal, a cultural trip or a whole weekend full of adventures and unforgettable experiences.

Problems arise when time and money are not enough to plan an outing. That should not be a concern because here we give all the details to be able to leave home and enjoy the most iconic corners of the territory.

San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato

This city is located in the state of Guanajuato, a few kilometers from Mexico City. One of the peculiarities of this place is that it enchants anyone from the first moment, because its impressive baroque architecture -very characteristic of the area- surprises visitors. If you decide to visit this town, it is essential to go to the Parish of San Miguel Arcángel of neo-Gothic style, one of the most outstanding constructions in the main square. You can also take the opportunity to enter the church of the Temple of San Francisco with a Churrigueresque façade from the 18th century.

The architecture is not the only attraction you can enjoy, you can also find the factory La Aurora, the Garden of San Miguel de Allende, the Sanctuary of Atotonilco, Ignacio Ramirez Cultural Center or the Historical Museum Casa de Allende. San Miguel de Allende is the perfect destination to relax, enjoy a leisurely walk through downtown and learn about the colonial structures.

Costs vary according to the length of stay, number of people and departure location. If coming by car from Mexico City, the drive takes approximately 4 hours and the best route is the Mexico – Queretaro highway. However, if you prefer to travel by bus there are different schedules throughout the day, prices range from 400 to 800 pesos, depending on the company you hire, what is a fact is that the Terminal de Autobuses del Norte is the ideal option if you are leaving from the capital.

The amount of money needed for lodging is around 1,500 pesos in a 3-star hotel or 4,500 in a 5-star place, some packages include breakfast. You can eat for as little as 180 pesos, but if you are looking for something luxurious, there are numerous restaurants that offer dishes starting at 350 pesos. This destination is very versatile with the tourist’s wallet, so you can find very cheap areas with excellent dishes.

Valle de Bravo, State of Mexico

If you are one of those people who enjoy relaxing under the sun’s rays or having fun with sports and outdoor adventures, then you should visit Valle de Bravo. This is one of the best-known cities in the State of Mexico, located on Lake Avándaro and surrounded by mountains and hills that offer unique landscapes. Here you can also appreciate colonial buildings that have given identity to the surroundings.

The center of the Plaza de la Independencia is adorned by a large church called San Francisco de Asis, a construction dating from the 17th century. The Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve is undoubtedly one of the most impressive areas of Valle de Bravo, as it is the habitat of millions of migratory butterflies.

If you go in and out the costs can be minimal, since there are different areas where you can go without paying such as cultural spaces, it is worth mentioning that if you are a student, it is important not to forget the credential, as this allows access to some sites for free. The history of this corner is explored in detail in the Archaeological Museum, where you can see several pieces that belonged to the pre-Hispanic communities that inhabited Teotihuacán, Tlalpizáhuac, Malinalco, Calixtlahuaca, among others.

You can choose the option of renting a house with a pool to spend the weekend with friends and/or family, these are rented from 5,500 to 25,800, depending on the size of the house, the services, and the size and characteristics of the pool. Regular lodging ranges from 1,200 to 3,800 pesos. You can sleep in a hotel, cabin, or hostel.

Tepoztlán, State of Mexico

The town of Tepoztlán is one of the favorites of the people of the capital since it is located south of Mexico City. According to Aztec mythology, this is where Quetzalcoatl was born, for this reason, there is a magical and mystical atmosphere that is adorned by a steep road that leads straight to the famous Aztec pyramid of Tepozteco.

Climbing the hill is a must to appreciate the beautiful view of the city from the top. The Ex-Convent of Tepoztlán is an old monastery that belonged to the Dominican friars in the 16th century and has a museum of local history. The Carlos Pellicer Museum exhibits diverse works and artifacts of pre-Hispanic art.

500 pesos are enough to enjoy an afternoon among the trees, the heat, and the typical micheladas of Tepoztlán. However, if the goal is to spend a full weekend touring the streets of the city, you can find lodgings ranging from 250 pesos to 870 pesos, depending on the area and locations. Usually, the cheapest rooms are those shared with other tourists.

If you do not have a car, there is no problem, since at the Terminal de Autobuses del Sur there are trips that cost as little as 140 pesos. The time from the central bus station to Tepoztlán is 2 hours, so it won’t be a long trip at all.
