Colin Harnett, the gentleman with the pink vocho, passed away in the early morning of November 28th. Colin was born in the United Kingdom but his last years were spent in San Miguel de Allende where he delighted everyone with his Vocho decorated with stuffed animals and ornaments.

Collin Harnett was born in the UK but more than a decade ago he decided to live in Mexico, specifically in San Miguel de Allende. Shortly after his arrival, he decided to buy a Volkswagen, he noticed that it had a boring color and decided to paint it “Liverpool pink”, as he took the color of a bag of that department store to give color to his Vocho.

Sometime later he began to decorate the vehicle according to the season, he announced the arrival of spring with stuffed flowers and hanging ornaments, for Independence Day his vehicle was painted tricolor with multiple ornaments, on Day of the Dead he placed horror characters on the awning of the small car but his favorite season was Christmas, hundreds of stuffed animals, snow monkeys and Sant Claus adorned the car that little by little he upholstered.

Colin participated in several caravans for Christmas, he adapted his vehicle with sound and drove through the streets giving colorful lollipops to the children and also a pleasant moment for the adults who admired taking pictures with the pink Vocho.

In the early morning of November 28th, he passed away due to an internal hemorrhage. His remains are being watched over at the Jardines Nueva Vida Chapel on Libramiento Manuel Zavala, in front of the Red Cross.

Colin was an incredible addition to San Miguel de Allende.
He was loved by all, but the children especially. A bigger-than-life human being!
He will be greatly missed and NEVER duplicated.
We were all lucky to have been touched by his eccentricity and love of our community.
