You will soon be able to bid on fine art, destination packages and adventures, unique silver jewelry, fabulous gift baskets, spa treatments and much more, from the comfort of your favourite armchair. Many of the items being presented, particularly the fine silver jewelry, have been handcrafted by the students at EEESMA School for the Deaf. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of those items will go directly to benefit the students who created the pieces.
In addition, the popular Wine Pull is back, offering cash donors the opportunity to secure one of 75 bottles of fine Bajio regional wine graciously provided by La Santisima Trinidad. What better way to explore some of the select and premium wines for which San Miguel’s vintners are becoming famous.
Our heartfelt thanks to all the contributors and sponsors who have generously supported this major fundraising event. Throughout the auction we will introduce them and their fabulous donations. To begin with, let us acquaint you with a few of the accomplished, world-famous artists in a variety of media whose donated creations are as stunning as they are collectible.
Ana Thiel is a renowned glass artist whose works appear in private collections, galleries, museums, and universities around the world. She has won numerous awards including first prize in the National Council for Culture and the Arts Latin American Biennial of Glass Art. She has been invited as an artist-in-residence in Japan, Spain, France, Egypt, the Czech Republic and the USA. Ana honors the dreams and aspirations of Deaf children at EEESMA by sharing her gift with them. She hopes that both their dreams and her art will move you.
Gilda Pontbriand studied visual arts in Mexico, Canada, and France. She has won 24 national and international awards for her work in oil, acrylics, and mixed media and 10 prizes for her photography. Her paintings are found in many private, public, and corporate collections worldwide. Gilda supports the work of EEESMA School for the Deaf right here in San Miguel de Allende and encourages you to do the same.
The late Peter Leventhal devoted his life to drawing, painting, printmaking and wood sculpting, and staged more than 40 solo exhibits. He studied at Columbia University and later at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris. Sadly, Peter passed away here in 2019. Peter’s dear wife, Terra Mizwa is a self-taught artist of drawing, painting and sculpture. She exhibits her passion for life in her colorful and often humorous depictions of people, animals and landscapes. We are honored to present a few pieces of Peter’s work, along with one of Terra’s magical creations and are grateful to Terra for again generously supporting students at EEESMA School for the Deaf by donating these works.
You will soon be able to register for free and with no obligation on the auction website. If you decide to join in the bidding, know that you are helping some very special children to realize their dreams for an education and a brighter future, filled with hope and promise.
Blessing and gratitude,
John Doherty
