Amigos de Animales 20th Birthday! Please help!

Dear friends of Amigo’s de Animales

IT’S OUR 20th BIRTHDAY AND WE NEED YOUR GOOD BUT UNNEEDED STUFF!

As we all move slowly into our post pandemic lives with increased social interaction and more “normal” activities, the same is true for organizations like Amigo’s de Animales. www.amigos-sma.org

As I’m sure some of you have heard, Amigo’s has recently restarted our Friday sterilization clinics in the campo areas outside of San Miguel de Allende (sadly without our “trusty” old mobile clinic vehicle that finally had to be retired) and exciting news; we are planning a large-scale weekend sterilization blitz in November, our first in two full years!

As I said in the subject line of this email, it’s our 20th birthday!   In our 20 years, and with your help, we’ve sterilized over 23,000 cats and dogs.  But as we can all see firsthand, the dog and cat overpopulation situation in San Miguel de Allende is worse than ever now. That’s why, with all safety protocols in place, we are getting back to our normal programs to start to reduce the suffering due to animal overpopulation.

Another normal activity that we are getting back to is raising funds to keep Amigo’s going. As you know, we receive no funding from the Mexican government and rely on donors like you to keep us going.   We are bringing back the legendary Amigo’s garage sale, hosted by our super hero friends, Helen and Paul Dickson.  Last time this sale was run, they raised a huge amount for Amigo’s – close to $10,000 US Dollars! That’s because you all donated spectacular stuff!  And lots of it!!

The Amigos de Animales garage sale will take place a bit later this summer. Once a date has been finalized, we will contact you again.  We are asking each of you to look around your houses, casitas, garages, and bodegas for loved but unused or underused items that would have value to someone else at our super duper 20th Birthday garage sale.  That old lamp, those shoes, that ping pong table, those garden tools, furniture, home electronics, vintage jewelry, kitchen tools, and any other good stuff that we could convert into $money$ for Amigo’s de Animales and to help us replace our recently retired mobile clinic vehicle. Of course, if you have animal loving neighbors and friends, please ask them to donate too!!

Your donated items can be dropped off at Zacateros #79 in Centro.  Please call 415-101-4856 to arrange a time.   If you need help getting your items to us, let us know and we will send someone to pick it up.  You can arrange for a pick up by emailing to mafriedman@gmail.com

and leaving a message with your phone number and the best times to reach you.
