In Mexico there are just over 129 million inhabitants, of which 12.9 million (10%) belong to the segment of older adults, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), so the number of retirees in our country has an upward trend.
Projections by the National Population Council (CONAPO) indicate that by 2050 there will be just over 24 million people aged 65 or over, the equivalent of 16.5% of the total population.
One of the main concerns of retirees is to find a suitable place to live in retirement, with health services, housing availability, infrastructure and communications, as well as a quiet environment.
