What can we do here in San Miguel to cheer ourselves up? Welcome to 2021. Last year was long and difficult, and there are many tough weeks still ahead.

Karen Kelly, has some brilliant suggestions for lifting our spirits. She says, ‘We’re going to get through the coming months and even have a little fun. Even though we are wearing masks and restricting social contacts we can walk (carefully) around San Miguel and see the incredible street murals in our neighborhoods.”

Innovative. Vibrant. Thriving. These are words that describe the murals are that have decorated walls in San Miguel for many years. Bold colors and decorative details give these murals the unforgettable images Mexican folk art is famous for.

A year ago, the idea of the first urban gallery in San Miguel arose, and is now a reality. Karen will tell us about the gallery and some of the paintings. The requirement for participants was that the paintings represent well-being, family, female empowerment, friendship, creativity, and music.

Karen, an accomplished street photographer, created a Limited Edition 2021 San Miguel de Allende Photo Calendar. Each month features a different collection of vibrant photos of street scenes, murals, parades, and annual celebrations.

“Besides the calendar being a perfect holiday gift for yourself or a friend, a portion of your purchase will directly support street artists, who create beautiful murals throughout San Miguel,” explained Karen.
