The water lily on the waters of the Allende Dam is spreading more and more every day.

This peculiar plant, which because of its shape and color seems to paint a landscape worthy of a painting, has begun to become a problem in lakes such as Xochimilco in Mexico City, Chapala, in Jalisco, or in the Yuriria Lagoon, among others.

Some photos taken by ALAN H, show that in the Presa Allende in San Miguel e Allende, this water lily that gives beautiful colorful flowers, and that science baptized it as Eichhornia crassipes, is spreading more and more every day.

In Mexico, farmers and fishermen call it Huachinango, Jacinto, or Tamborcillo and, according to TEC Review, this plant grows in fresh and slightly moving waters.

They point out that the water lily is capable of doubling its population in a period of 5 to 15 days and reproduces quickly because it is part of its nature.

The magazine specialized in environmental issues, says that the arrival of the water lily is not simply because it is, but because we humans help it.

The article indicates that researchers who have followed the trail have observed that this plant is happy and feels at home in polluted waters and thrives like mushrooms in rainy weather.
