In the state, 17 municipalities participate in “This Summer in Guanajuato”, a route of towns in the industrial corridor.
The Secretary of Tourism of the state launched the campaign “This Summer in Guanajuato”, in which 17 municipalities of the industrial and tourist corridor of the state will participate and expect to receive 3 million visitors and economic revenue of close to 6 billion pesos.
This was informed by state Tourism Secretary Juan José Álvarez Brunell, who highlighted that the campaign began this Tuesday, July 6 and concludes on August 31 in León, Irapuato, Guanajuato, Dolores Hidalgo, San Miguel de Allende, Celaya, Abasolo, Tarandacuao, Apaseo el Alto and El Grande, Silao, Valle de Santiago, San Luis de la Paz, San José Iturbide, Salamanca, San Felipe, Salvatierra and Purísima del Rincón.
During almost two months of the campaign, there will be special promotions and discounts in more than 150 hotels and restaurants, and it is expected that the inhabitants of Guanajuato will be the main consumers and travelers who come to know the best of the state, with the purpose of supporting the local economy and the economic reactivation of the sector.
“Last year we had a lower number, we did not even reach 500 thousand visitors, all tourism sectors are invited, hoteliers, restaurateurs, tour guides, venues, tour operators, wedding planners.”
He explained that all the municipalities were invited to join the campaign and align their sectors to participate, but not all of them were able to register on time, but they can join in the next few weeks.
“The invitation was extended to all the municipalities, I am sure that as we advance in the campaign there will be more municipalities that will join this promotional campaign, the 17 municipalities that joined are the ones that have more tourist activity.”
Regarding the security that exists in the municipalities so that the population can go out to visit, the Secretary of Tourism pointed out that the condition of security is national and that tourists look for places where health and security are privileged.
“An advantage of the state is that it has tourist police, the population sees that there are detachments with different uniforms, different patrols, that helps us to improve the perception of Guanajuato.”
Mr. Alvarez Brunell said that hotel occupancy in the state is over 25% this month, and with the Summer Fair in Leon and the campaign to visit 17 tourist municipalities throughout Guanajuato, lodging could increase above 30%.
He concluded that the data the Ministry of Tourism has on the results of the first six months of the year indicate that 11 billion pesos in economic revenue have been generated with 6 million visitors (generally from Guanajuato) and 1.1 million tourists from other parts of the country and abroad. The goal is to reach 50 billion pesos and 22 million visitors.
