721 runners and more than 5 thousand spectators enjoyed this traditional race organized by the Municipal Government headed by President Mauricio Trejo, through the Municipal Sports Commission (Comude).
For the fourth time and with an official time of 15:30:38″, Brian Brandon Llamas Trejo was the winner of this sporting event, after winning first place in this edition, as he did in 2017, 2018, and 2019; while in the women’s category the victory went to María Cruz Reyes Bocanegra, who had fought for it in previous editions by reaching among the first places, after running 4,820 meters through the streets of the historic center.
Special recognition went to the runners who came in first place (18 men and 10 women), who will make up the delegation of athletes who will participate in the Symbolic Race on September 15 to bring the libertarian fire from Querétaro to San Miguel de Allende; they also took home a commemorative trophy with the figure of Ignacio Allende on horseback and their respective commemorative medal.
“Congratulations to all of you for coming and supporting this tradition, a round of applause to all the runners. Running this race is extremely difficult. The last time I ran it, I went over 30 minutes. Congratulations, Brayan, see you on the Día del Grito (Independence Day), you earned it. Well earned. Congratulations to everyone,” said the president after handing out the trophies to the winners and inviting Brayan Llamas to be a special guest this coming Thursday on the presidential balcony of the Palacio Municipal, during the ceremony of the Grito de Independencia.
Among cheers, applause, and colors on a sunny day, this sporting celebration took place among young people, women, seniors, and children, supported by their families, neighbors, and tourists; along the way and especially at the finish line, the joy of all present was felt, including the municipal president and one of his daughters, who applauded the runners to recognize their effort.
Before, during, and after the event, the coordination of the Municipal Sports Commission (Comude) with the different emergency corps of the Public Safety Secretariat, Municipal Transit, and Civil Protection stood out, highlighting 21 little attention and one potentially unstable patient still in the attention post, in addition to the preventive attention of 35 Red Cross elements.
As it happened for the first time in 1956 when Juan “Juanelo” López Arriaga was proclaimed the winner, the 67th. Carrera de la Conspiración was once again a celebration for the entire sports community, bringing together hundreds of athletic families and summoning thousands of San Miguel residents to take to the streets of this World Heritage City and join in one of its most deeply rooted traditions.
The awards ceremony was also attended by several members of the City Council, including Rafael Ramírez, president of the Sports Commission. He, like the municipal president, received recognition for his work in favor of sports.
