There will be no Locos Parade this year
This weekend begins the traditional celebration of San Pascual Bailón, with the novenaria that year after year takes place in the temple of the Oratorio. This celebration gives notice of the coming feast of San Antonio, religious feast in which the great “Desfile de Los Locos” usually takes place. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic will not take place.
Graciela Luna Cruz, in charge of the “Cuadro Nuevo” of the “Desfile de Locos”, shared with us that since this Friday the masses of the novenario to San Pascual Bailón began, which will be varying the schedule during this day in order to avoid crowds. In addition, this year the “Cuadro Nuevo” is celebrating its 60th anniversary, so they will offer a mass on May 23rd.
“This novena gives rise to the arrival of the feast of St. Anthony of Padua, which is officially celebrated on June 13, but we still do not know what celebrations will be held, we are still waiting to see. For the festivity of San Pascual Bailón, this year there will be no dance or dances, only the novenario due to the pandemic”.
The person in charge of the “Cuadro Nuevo”, assured that this year, there will be no Parade of the Locos either, for the commemoration of San Antonio de Padua, which this year was expected to be held on the second Sunday of June (June 13), this because the pandemic is still present, so it is intended to avoid massive contagions.
And it is worth mentioning that every year, approximately 25 thousand people participated dancing in the different “locos” that make up the parade, in addition to the thousands of spectators not only from San Miguel de Allende, but from other parts of the country, who for this day arrived to the municipality exclusively to witness and be part of this huge party.
