The magical town of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, topped real estate searches for renting or buying a home in the country by registering a 33.4% increase from January to July 2021, compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Inmuebles24 portal, the largest online classifieds company for jobs and properties in Latin America.
The second place in this listing was Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, a tourist site located in the Mexican Caribbean, which registered an increase in searches of 23.1% in the first seven months so far this year, compared to data from January to July 2020.
“The search for a home or space to live for seasons has opened up to possibilities outside the country’s main cities; this, thanks to the new normal in which work and the school can be taken in online or hybrid schemes,” said Alejandro García del Río, marketing director of Inmuebles24 in a statement. “One of the things that have been revalued in recent times is space and quality of life, and many of these magical towns offer that.”
