This World Heritage City began preparations to fill its streets with the patriotic spirit with the colors of the Mexican flag.
Listening to the suggestions of the people of San Miguel, the municipal president, Mauricio Trejo instructed the Directorate of Public Services and Quality of Life of the Municipal Administration, to place the first tricolor flags and patriotic decorations, which set the tone for the beginning of a month full of festivities and celebrations for a new anniversary of the Independence of Mexico.
“The mayor’s (Mauricio Trejo) mandate, in addition to illuminating, is that we feel very proud of our municipality, that we live it, that we enjoy it, and that we, in turn, as Director of Public Services, work so that all municipalities feel our city is theirs, that (Sanmiguelans) feel completely happy to go out into their streets and see them perfectly decorated and illuminated,” said Laura Adriana Flores, Director of Public Services and Quality of Life.
Among the decorations, flags are already flying from the terraces and roofs of houses in the historic center, and these will be added to others in different neighborhoods and communities.
Likewise, the “Patriotic Month” emblems will be placed: bells, eagles, national shields, and images of the Heroes of Independence: Ignacio Allende, Miguel Hidalgo, Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez “La Corregidora”, among others; these decorations will embellish the city’s streets.
On the other hand, an invitation is extended to the people of San Miguel to continue dressing in green, white, and red on all their facades and common areas of the municipality, to endorse that San Miguel is a unique city for its historical significance as “La Fragua de la Independencia Nacional” (The Forge of National Independence).
Highlighting its historical importance, the Municipal Administration continues to express its pride because San Miguel de Allende gave birth to Free Mexico and its people improve it daily.
