In San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, known as “The Forge of National Independence”, authorities commemorated the Bicentennial of the Consummation of Independence with an allusive civic act.

From that city, where the First Independent City Council of Mexico was formed, municipal authorities led the protocol and renewed the national flag of 26 educational institutions of the municipality.

In the delivery of flags that symbolize the homeland, love, union, and the desire for personal improvement, the responsibility of students to fulfill their duty, respecting teachers and classmates, obeying their parents, and not allowing this flag to be sullied was highlighted.

May the effort, the blood, the sacrifice of yesterday’s men serve as a spur to make a better Mexico for the future, long live Mexico,” said San Miguel Mayor Luis Alberto Villarreal.

    HISTORICAL PASSAGE
Through a civic and cultural event, coordinated by the Department of Culture and Traditions in conjunction with the Las Casas Institute, the municipal authorities recalled the historical passage of the insurgent deed that led to the armed movement that gave rise to Independent Mexico.

As part of the cultural program, the poetry reading “September 27th” and the theatrical performance “Voices that forged a prosperous Homeland” were performed by the students of the Las Casas Institute.
At the end of the civic protocol, the retinue proceeded to make floral offerings and Guard of Honor at the Monument to Ignacio Allende in Plaza de la Soledad, the House of the Conspirators, and the House of Allende.
