Another year without the “convite de locos”, in its place San Antonio de Padua will give a tour.

In San Antonio the feast of St. Anthony of Padua has already begun, they are already celebrating the bi-weekly rosaries, and as has become customary, the activity is carried out with the image of the saint making a tour in a van, accompanied by Father Antonio Gonzalez Lara.

It has been four days since they started, they take St. Anthony in a van through the neighborhoods and communities and go praying the rosary in the places where the pilgrimages always pass in the afternoons. In the mornings they go to the communities. That is the preparation.

Once again there will be no convite

“For the day of the feast San Antonio de Padua will go out on the same route that is done with the locos, as this year there will be no locos due to the contingency and the multitude of locos and the people who see them, so we will only go by truck to do the same route that the locos do”, said Father Antonio.

For the second year in a row the convite de locos will not be held, in order to avoid the spread of covid, since the pandemic is not over yet, so Father Antonio calls on the people of San Miguel to be careful to avoid a setback in the reactivation traffic light in the state of Guanajuato.

“Some say ‘we are already going down to green traffic light’ but we realize that the yellow is turning orange and we will probably go back, then we must be careful, especially so that we do not fall again or go backwards and that we always honor our patron saint San Antonio de Padua,” said Father Toño.

In lieu of the convite there will be a tour with the image of San Antonio de Padua through the streets where the locos used to pass. This tour will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the exit to Celaya, passing through Ancha de San Antonio, Zacateros, Canal, Hernandez Macias, Mesones, Nuñez, San Francisco until arriving at the main garden. Prior to this, a mass will be held with representatives of the four “cuadros de locos” (Del Parque, Antiguo, Tecolote and Nuevo) at 10:00 am.
