Whether you are in San Miguel for a week, two months or permanently; being prepared for a medical emergency is extremely important. Tragedy can and unfortunately does strike. Many of us don´t think ahead about the importance of health and travel insurance or the financial impacts of not being prepared for a major medical emergency. For one, hospitalization costs in San Miguel are not cheap. Double digit medical inflation over the past 6 years as well as the financial impacts of Covid have caused hospital costs to rise significantly.
Unlike doctor appointments and medication, the cost of major medical emergencies cost thousands of dollars. Acquiring health insurance means protecting your dream of living Mexico and the difference between living out that dream or not. That is why the Midday Rotary Club of San Miguel invited Melanie Lansing to speak at the weekly club meeting on October 19.
Melanie has been a health insurance advisor for the past eight years. Her firm, Mexico Insurance Advisors, represents over 16 of the best health and travel insurance companies on the market. Melanie is passionate about assisting expats with understanding how health care and insurance in Mexico work. As a former CBS news Spanish Simulcast interpreter & Fulbright scholar to Honduras; Melanie speaks and writes Spanish fluently. Since 2014, over 2,000 people in San Miguel de Allende have attended Melanie´s Peace of Mind educational seminars on How to Be Prepared for a Medical Emergency in Mexico.
