On September 14, 2021, Irene Fuentes, the Executive Director of Ojala Niños, A.C. and Norman Briere, Chairman of the Board, shared the strategies and techniques that the organization uses to educate and entertain children while enriching their psychological and moral development.  Irene is a specialist in Social Responsibility and Children’s Rights and received her Master’s Degree in Social Responsibility from Mexico City’s Anahuac University. The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Norman Briere, will also join the presentation and discuss the organization’s vision for the future.

As Irene recently wrote in a promotional mail list, “the way time is used is a very important factor for happiness. Having a life full of meaningful activities does make a big difference in people’s happiness, activities such as spending quality time with family and friends, taking actions to help others or contributing to momentous causes.” In her writings, Irene is expressing the mutual benefit received not just by the children who have a chance to gather together to perform quality activities but to those who donate resources for these programs.”

Ojala Niños has a laudable history.  Elsemarie Norby, the program’s founder, worked tirelessly for years to develop the program and noted that due to the pandemic, the program suffered shut-downs in so many ways, and is now undergoing transformations for the ongoing growth of the program.

Rotary is where neighbors, friends and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders and take action to create lasting change.  For more information, contact President Skip Essick at skipessickmedia@gmail.com.
