Enter a surreal world in the heart of San Miguel de Allende and let yourself be seduced by its magical atmosphere that will make you feel as if you were in a fairy tale. This is Rancho Cascabel, also known as Timmyland, a beautiful place that combines retro and futuristic.
San Miguel de Allende is a Mexican destination that by itself is full of magic and charm, hence it is considered the most beautiful city in Mexico and has been recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2008.
Rancho Cascabel, an allegory to surrealism
Rancho Cascabel is a place that combines perfectly with the essence of the city, all thanks to the American Tim Sullivan, who created this impressive surrealist property also known as Timmyland, located just 20 minutes from San Miguel de Allende.
The property is located in Montecillo de la Milpa and there are those who claim that this place is inspired by the Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí, creator of great works such as La Sagrada Familia in Spain and who is also considered a great exponent of Catalan modernism.
Architect Steve Kornher and designer Bob Hoss were in charge of bringing this Sullivan project to life. The predominant style of the Rattlesnake Ranch is called Flying Concrete. It is notable for its trails and snakes winding through the property and some tentacles slithering between the colorful walls.
Tour and entrance fee
This is private property, so it is not possible to stay or taste any kind of food inside, so if you want to visit Rancho Cascabel, you will have to hire a tour with one of the many travel agencies that include a tour of the place.
How to get there
It is located in Montecillo de la Milpa, 20 minutes from downtown. To get there you must cross a dirt road.
