From Guanajuato to the world, the handicrafts produced by San Miguel de Allende have been invited to visit the Vatican by Pope Francis, as announced by the municipal president of the municipality, Mauricio Trejo Pureco.
The visit of San Miguel de Allende will be in the month of June of this year, being Mayor Trejo Pureco and a commission who will go to represent the municipality and bring the typical handicrafts.
“I want to share with you this great news: Pope Francis, that’s right, the Vatican, invited San Miguel de Allende to visit him in June, but above all, to bring him a handicraft of our great, talented artisans,” said the mayor.
Wool, brass, and Mojigangas are the most famous materials with which the talented hands of artisans from Guanajuato create all kinds of things that imagination can give, from mirrors to boxes and fantasy stars, among others.
The craftsmanship will be permanently exhibited at the Vatican Museum, one of the most important museums in the world.
What great news that a handicraft, for the next years that remain to this land, can be exhibited by the Vatican Museum, so we are very happy, and congratulations to the artisans, because from the Vatican, they had their eye on them,” added Trejo Pureco.
