Peaceful demonstration for Women’s Day in SMA

As part of International Women’s Day, a peaceful demonstration was held in the heritage city.
This event began at 4:00 p.m. gathering at Juarez Park, where the women present painted their banners and explained the route and what would be done along the way.
The tour left the park towards Nemesio Diez where they pasted the first sticker allusive to change the name of the street to that of a woman, from there they went through Zacateros, Canal, Hernandez Macias, Insurgentes, Pepe Llanos, Mesones, Juarez, San Francisco, and Principal.
In each of the streets, they left the sticker where they changed the name of the street to that of a woman.
The entire demonstration was carried out in a peaceful manner, with policewomen accompanying them to the main garden just 100 meters away.
Among their chants were “he who does not jump is macho”, “we are bad, but we can be worse”, “the police do not take care of us”, among others.
Some banners with texts such as, “I want us all to return home”, “they sowed fear, we grew wings”, “I am the teacher of the girls you will never touch”, among others.
In the end, the women remembered the names of women who lost their lives or are missing, as well as opened the megaphone where each one shared a feeling of being a victim of violence by a man.
In this demonstration, there were foreign women and women from San Miguel, as well as many accompanied by their daughters or sons, fathers or brothers.
