The Los Angeles Children’s Chorus (LACC), widely recognized as one of the most important youth choirs in the world, has been praised as “wonderfully beautiful” (Los Angeles Times), “the best children’s choir I have ever heard” (Esa-Pekka Salonen) and “one of the true artistic jewels of Los Angeles” (Gustavo Dudamel), and is preparing its visit to Mexico.
The LACC – winner of the 2022 Grammy for Best Choral Performance in the album Mahler Simphony No. 8 of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel – will offer five concerts in our country; the first will be in Guanajuato, the second in San Miguel de Allende, two more in different colonial venues in Puebla and they will close their visit in Mexico City, in a venue belonging to the UNAM.
Founded in 1986 and now led by artistic director Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, LACC appears annually in more than 50 public performances, including concerts of its own production and in collaboration with leading organizations such as Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and Pasadena Symphony Orchestra and POPS.
The Chorale annually serves nearly 400 children ages 6-18 from over 40 communities throughout Southern California through its seven choirs and two beginner levels: First Experiences in Singing and First Experiences in Choral Singing.
