La Manada, a lodging option for dogs in San Miguel de Allende

San Miguel de Allende is a city famous for its history and has a charm thanks to its colonial architecture; a place that has become one of the most visited destinations thanks to its cultural offer.

Now for those tourists who travel with their pets or the same residents who have one; a hotel and nursery was opened for dogs, who take care of the small canines in what their owners walk around the city or go to work.

Daniela Álvarez, commented that this dream began a year ago that she had to return to the heritage city to live since she resided for work in Mexico City, when the pandemic increased.

The idea of creating the Hotel La Manada,was born when Daniela did not find a hotel or nursery option for her pet Hamaca, in the urban area of San Miguel, there were only some outside the city, in ranches but far away.

This site offers different systems: hotel, nursery and dog training, the nursery opens its stalls from Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, enough time for owners who have things to do during the day or simply want their dog to live with other dogs, leave them so they can play and exercise.

The hotel service has 15 individual or shared spaces in case they come with small dogs and are from the same owner; Large dogs fit perfectly in one of the rooms. They have a bed, place for food and most of the time they are in the recreational area playing and supervised by trained staff.

In addition, it is sought that all those who enter arrive with their vaccination card so that there is no issue of diseases since several puppies coexist directly or indirectly.

“We have had situations where people arrive with a puppy that they rescued but they can not have it at home, so what we do together with the veterinarian who is here next to the hotel is that they check them, apply necessary vaccines so that they do not have any disease and infect the rest of the herd,” Daniela commented.

“After a check-up, they can be kept here while they are looking for a home for them or they are channeled to some other civil association dedicated to that so that they can find a good house,” Álvarez said.

The training is worked by the trainer Tomás Duarte, recognized in San Miguel, the process is done from the 4 months of a puppy; they are taught basic obedience, they can go to individual class, group or intensive modality where they stay approximately 5 weeks and there they are trained and what is seen during the day is reinforced.
