Interim Mayor Gonzalo Gonzalez said that they are already preparing the 2021 patron saint festivities of this municipality, although he revealed that it is not yet a fact that they will be held. He said that if the pandemic allows it, they will be prepared.
In this municipality, the custom is that the fair begins after the ceremony of the cry of independence; that is to say, the last two weeks of September and the first week of October.
In 2020, these activities were canceled due to the pandemic and it is possible that they will be resumed in 2021.
“We are preparing to make, as we have done in the last two administrations, worthy festivities for San Miguel de Allende, as long as the health contingency allows it,” stated that municipal president Gonzalo González
A week ago, the mayor of San Luis de la Paz announced that the patron saint festivities of that municipality, would not be held in August, as is the custom, but would probably be delayed until December, but that this will depend on the behavior of the pandemic and vaccination.
The same will happen in San Miguel de Allende, although with less time, because if the fair is held, the authorities would have to start contracting the line-up of artists to be presented in the town’s theater.
The mayor also said that they are still analyzing whether the shouting ceremony will be with an in-person audience or if it will be transmitted through social networks, as was done during 2020.
