Five years after his death, Los Gabrieles, one of Juan Gabriel’s favorite leisure properties located in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, was put up for sale.
On August 28, 2016, Alberto Aguilera Valadez, better known as Juan Gabriel, passed away. Since his surprise death, the Mexican singer-songwriter left an inheritance valued at 30 million dollars between royalties and properties according to the CelebrityNerWorth portal, while Forbes magazine ranked him as number 18 among the richest musicians.
According to the real estate website Realty San Miguel, the Los Gabrieles ranch is for sale for the amount of 1,800,000 million dollars, which is equivalent to 36 million pesos. The property is located in Tierras de Paz, which is very close to downtown San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.
The property has an approximate extension of 7 hectares, space with plenty of green areas, “the main house, two outhouses, and stables”; the main house has two floors, 10 bedrooms, and 6 bathrooms. According to the portal, Los Gabrieles can be maintained as a ranch dedicated to horseback riding, or it can be transformed into a hotel.
“Few people know that San Miguel de Allende was a destination of rest and inspiration for the incomparable Juan Gabriel, who because of the charm that encloses this city and the proximity to CDMX, carefully chose the best place to create a space to disconnect and enjoy away from the stage, cameras, and bustle… and yes surrounded by family and close friends”, reads the website.
A TVyNovelas magazine article explained that Juan Gabriel chose to name the ranch Los Gabrieles in honor of his four sons: Iván Gabriel, Joan Gabriel, Hans Gabriel, and Jean Gabriel, all with the last name of Aguilera Salas. It is worth mentioning that Iván, the singer-songwriter’s eldest son, is the universal heir to the estate of “El Divo de Juárez”.
The same magazine says that the ranch Los Gabrieles was acquired in the early ’90s like a resting place for Juan Gabriel. He even positioned it as “One of his favorite properties” because it was close to Mexico City, where he lived for many years.
Juan Gabriel was so fond of this particular ranch that he decorated each of the 10 rooms with large carpets, armchairs, and mirrors with baroque details, chandeliers, and antique furniture.
According to TVyNovelas, Los Gabrieles would be the house where “El Divo de Juarez” would live after his retirement from the stage.
The real estate company’s announcement highlighted the unparalleled value of the property as it belongs to one of Mexico’s most famous singer-songwriters, which makes it a ranch with potential for those who can invest in it.
“Whoever contemplates the acquisition of this ranch, will own a property-inheritance of one of Mexico’s most important artists and will know how to answer this question: Why would I have chosen this ranch among all the others in the market?”, it was mentioned in Realty San Miguel.
Los Gabrieles is not the only property of Juan Gabriel that has attracted attention since his death, because just a few weeks ago, Ivan Gabriel together with his lawyer Guillermo Pous announced that they have started a legal process to recover the mansions that the “Divo” left behind in Spain.
The “Lawyer of the Stars” explained to TV y Notas that his client has not taken possession of said Spanish properties because taxes may have to be paid, he also pointed out that the house in Parácuaro, Michoacán where his uncle Pablo Aguilera lived has already been recovered.
