GIFF Celebrates 25 years in 2022

    “We are going to celebrate 25 years, we have many surprises, activities, and everything we will do throughout these 12 months; we return to our traditional dates, from July 22 to 31; we want to thank IMCINE who always accompany us in our activities in our pranks,” said the director of the Guanajuato International Film Festival (Giff).

    Lola Diaz Gonzalez deputy director of Distribution and national promotion of Imcine offered a few words for this call launching for all those who wish to get involved in this new edition.

    “On behalf of Imcine and María Novaro, we thank Giff for once again making us part of the festival, of this party with which we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of this beautiful festival; we thank Sarah for her unstoppable work, the connections she makes inside and outside the country, the support she has managed to develop, the alliances she has managed to make and strengthen,” said Lola during the conference.

    Every year the Giff makes an exchange working with Goethe Institut, MedienBoard with the idea of obtaining a residency, so the Mexican filmmaker Diego Enrique Osorno will go to Berlin and the German Udita Bhargava is already here in Mexico doing his residency to seek funding, carry out his film projects and left a message for all Mexicans.

    “I’ve arrived at the best place to write, I’ve met the most wonderful people, they have helped me a lot to research my projects, I was in San Miguel which is full of beautiful places, restaurants, incredible people, it has been for me this journey full of learning and wonderful experiences,” he said.

    Also present will be María Fernanda Galindo, Abril López Carillo, two Mexican producers, Vera Ruíz, a filmmaker from Guanajuato, and Racornelia Ezell, a filmmaker from Tabasco, who will share their experience at the Rotterdam Lab for emerging producers.

    Diana Camarena, general director of the Guanajuato State Institute of Culture, shared the importance of continuing to support a festival like GIFF.

    “This year will be one of the great celebrations, the Guanajuato Film Festival has been able to earn its place, it is a living heritage of our state,” Camarena highlighted.

    The festival will take place from July 22 to 31 in San Miguel de Allende, León, and Irapuato in the state of Guanajuato.
