As part of the program to rescue public spaces, the Plazoleta Cuna de Allende was recovered for the enjoyment of the people, and now it has a 12-pointed star and a fountain.

From the new municipal perspective, San Miguel needs to strengthen its public space dimension, where people who live, visit or work in it come into contact with each other; all this without misappropriating the free space, appropriating or allocating public funds for use unrelated to its function.

In this sense, the Plazoleta Cuna de Allende once again belongs to the people of San Miguel, with an integral proposal that prioritizes the pedestrian, guarantees the right to circulate in peace and harmony, where the passage cannot be restricted by private property criteria.

In addition, these actions will reinforce the economic and tourist activity of the city, as it is now used as a space of expression for local artisans; there are currently a large number of artisan families in the city, which has allowed them, generation after generation, to preserve artisan techniques and traditions, by continuing the legacy that is representative of this Heritage City.

In virtue of this San Miguel quality, it was decided to exhibit the great works of local artisans, through the sculptural placement of a 12-pointed star, with a design of flowers and petals, simulating the characteristic craquelure of the design of local craftsmanship.

In addition to this, in San Miguel, there are essential urban elements such as fountains, which are ornamental, sculptural, and artistic design elements that inspire the senses through the sound of water, which is why in the Plazoleta Cuna de Allende a baptismal fountain of quarry stone was placed, made by local artisans, carved by hand with chisel and hammer, patience and creativity.

“This is how the great works of our artisans begin to shine in public spaces. Let’s show off to the world what is made here with Sanmiguelan hands,” posted the municipal president, Mauricio Trejo, on his official social networks, after placing the 12-pointed star in this recovered space.
