Wine tourism is a key piece for the regionalization of the economy in San Miguel de Allende and its surroundings, we are a municipality with healthy and clean finances that, through our public policy, we potentiate our region, an action that translates into an economic return, highlighted; Mauricio Trejo Pureco, municipal president of San Miguel de Allende Guanajuato.
Trejo added that by having now at UTSMA the Higher University Technician in Sustainable Agriculture, Viticulture area, today the young people of San Miguel de Allende and the entire state of Guanajuato will have a great opportunity for academic training, another professional career option since they will be able to become winemakers or specialized agronomists.
On this subject, Trejo Pureco emphasized that his government’s public policy is to regionalize the economies throughout Guanajuato, and for this purpose wine tourism is key.
“We have to regionalize the economies, we are 46 municipalities, but there are only 10 or 12 municipalities that generate a very large, very healthy economy, which can really spill over to all around and to the surrounding municipalities. San Miguel de Allende must start with policies, and we are already looking at it that way, of regionalization of the economy, to produce an economy that will spill over to Dolores Hidalgo, Comonfort, or San Luis de la Paz and that can translate into an economic return for us. Visitors from other municipalities will come here, from here we send an image of a prosperous state, of a healthy economy, that has areas free of violence, that can be visited by all Mexicans and all citizens of the world”, reiterated the president of San Miguel.
