The Federal Government gave the go-ahead for Guanajuato to assume ownership of the 32-kilometer stretch of highway that connects San Miguel de Allende with Dolores Hidalgo; if the project is completed, the state will invest 2 billion pesos of state resources for its restoration.

If Guanajuato were to take ownership of the road section, it will have to invest more than 2 billion pesos.

“We are going to invest a large amount of money, it is estimated that almost 2 billion pesos will be invested to restore this road, given that the success of San Miguel de Allende is already being taken over by Queretaro and that’s a good thing (…) but we see that we have to make it possible for the state to take over the ownership of the highway. ) but we see that we have to make the success for Dolores Hidalgo, which is a magical town and cradle of independence, but the problem is that there is no infrastructure, we have many beautiful places, but the highway is a round trip because it is a federal highway, we are not in charge of its surveillance and there have been complaints that when there is an accident it takes a long time for the National Guard to arrive”, said the governor.

This derived from the meeting that the governor held with the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, as well as with the Undersecretary of Communications and Transportation.

“I went to ask him to please give us that section from San Miguel de Allende to Dolores, which is 32 kilometers long so that we can build this four-lane Boulevard and also provide maintenance and security surveillance. The Secretary of the Interior saw it well and from there he spoke to Jorge Nuño who is the undersecretary of the SCT (Secretary of Communications and Transportation) with whom I had a subsequent meeting, which was already scheduled,” added the governor.

Although during this meeting, the undersecretary of Communications and Transportation expressed his concern that, as in other states, Guanajuato would not comply with the maintenance of the highway sections that are handed over, the state proposed that the annual amount that Guanajuato will have to allocate for the maintenance of this highway be established in the concession clauses.
