The Historic Center and public squares in several neighborhoods of San Miguel de Allende welcomed the arrival of Christmas.
The Department of Environment and Sustainability of San Miguel de Allende used 1,300 plants to decorate the main square, the steps to the statue of Fray Juan de San Miguel, and the access to the parish of San Miguel Arcángel.
This traditional decoration embellished the lighting of the Christmas Tree led by the municipal president, Mauricio Trejo Pureco.
A total of 5,100 plants were used for the public squares of the Aurora, San Antonio and San Rafael neighborhoods, as well as the Plaza Cívica, San Felipe and Ignacio Zaragoza squares; the Juárez Park and the accesses to the city, at the Glorieta Patrimonio (exit to Querétaro) and the Glorieta Ventanas (exit to Dolores Hidalgo) were also decorated.
This work was carried out by 40 workers from the Cuadrillas and Gardening areas of the Environment and Sustainability Department, who year after year are in charge of making sure that the Christmas spirit is visible to the people.
Due to its nature, the Euphorbia Pulcherrima plant, known as “Nochebuena” can last as an ornament for two months, that is, during the entire Christmas season and the New Year’s holidays.
At the end, the municipal agency will evaluate each specimen, its rehabilitation and preservation in the Municipal Nursery.
