Charco del Ingenio assumes the presidency of the Mexican Association of Botanical Gardens.

El Charco del Ingenio, Ethnobotanical Garden, is voted to occupy the Presidency of the Mexican Association of Botanical Gardens. Mario Hernandez will preside over the association.

On February 24, the Annual Assembly of the Mexican Association of Botanical Gardens was held, which was led by the Clavijero Ethnobotanical Garden belonging to the Institute of Ecology in the state of Veracruz, which is based in the city of Jalapa.

During the mentioned Assembly the topic of the renewal or election of a board of directors to assume the representation of the botanical gardens in Mexico and abroad was discussed. In this way, with a unanimous vote, the vote was carried out to legitimize the Ethnobotanical Garden “El Charco del Ingenio” in San Miguel de Allende as the institution that will represent the botanical gardens of Mexico.

The protagonism of El Charco del Ingenio takes place in the context of the consolidation of conservation, environmental education, and scientific research project that has reached 30 years of existence.

The new governing structure of the Mexican Association of Botanical Gardens is integrated by:

The term of the representation of the world of botanical gardens will last for three years and undoubtedly puts Guanajuato in the eyes of the world as a relevant place for the conservation of natural resources.
