Children and adolescents are invited to visit consult a project recognized with the 11th Ibermuseos Educación Award, an initiative of the Ibero-American General Secretariat.

The Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico, through the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL) and the Ignacio Ramirez El Nigromante Cultural Center, launches the digital platform Mojiganga 360, a microsite of educational videos led by people who live and work in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, who share their ideas and knowledge with the public, especially with young people between 18 and 25 years of age in mind.

The Mojiganga 360 project was recognized with the 11th Ibermuseos Educación Award, an initiative of the Ibero-American General Secretariat (Segib), an international organization made up of 22 countries in the region that coordinates the Ibermuseos Program, created in 2007 with the mission of contributing to the articulation of museological public policies. 210 proposals from 13 Ibero-American countries participated in the call for proposals.

The objective of this edition was to encourage the realization of virtual educational projects proposed by public and private cultural spaces in the region, which suspended or limited their activity due to the restrictions derived from the health contingency. Of the projects registered, 20 were recognized as winners and received support for their realization, among them the one proposed by the Centro Cultural Ignacio Ramírez El Nigromante.

    San Miguel cultural microsite

The educational platform Mojiganga 360 enhances the daily culture of the people of San Miguel and makes it available to young people interested in learning, expressing or undertaking. It consists of four sections: Artistic Expression for the creation of cardboard mojigangas, wool weaving, photo of traditions and dance; Cultural Industries dedicated to jewelry, leather goods, clothing and natural cosmetics; Saberes vivos focused on the creation of content in social networks, mixology, event organization and enology, and Entorno social whose themes are related to diversity, inclusion, feminism and new masculinities.

Each section contains videos, tutorials, photos and recommendations for learning, developing creative projects or reflecting on aspects that favor social coexistence, based on the vision of professionals and scholars of the topics addressed.

Mojiganga 360 can be visited free of charge by young users at the link: elnigromante.inba.gob.mx/mojiganga360 from July 6 of this year.

The contributors to the sessions are members of the cultural and community life of San Miguel de Allende and agree on the importance of transmitting their experience, their passions and even their concerns, with the purpose of motivating younger audiences to discover or develop their projects. The videos include interpretation in Mexican Sign Language, which will make it possible to reach young people with hearing disabilities in the region and other parts of the country.

The name of the Mojiganga 360 project is a tribute to these great cardboard figures that are part of Mexican folk art and make people dance at parties. The educational proposal is also inspired by the thought of Ignacio Ramírez El Nigromante, a great promoter of freedom, human rights and education.

Collaborating in the project are Hermes Arroyo and Antonio Salazar, artists and mojigangueros; Diego Galván, textile artist; Antonio Rayas, communicator and promoter of local traditions; Rubén Juárez, dancer and dance teacher; Felipe Barbosa, jewelry designer; Giovan Luna, leather accessories designer; Laura Grimaldi, dressmaker and dressmaking teacher; Citlali Caldera, phytotherapist; Pau Gerez, tiktoker; Andrés Deanda, mixologist; Paulina Domínguez, corporate events specialist; Natllely Ávalos, social events specialist.

Its architecture evokes the convent life of the eighteenth century; it also highlights the work of David Alfaro Siqueiros in dialogue with the schools of artistic initiation, craft trades and contemporary art. It welcomes local, national and international visitors of all ages.
