Under heavy rain and lightning, the Grito de Independencia was given from the balcony of the Casa de Allende Historical Museum in San Miguel de Allende.
After 211 years of this historic event in Mexico, the celebration of the Grito took place for the second time in a virtual way due to the health contingency.
The celebration was carried out through a virtual program that began with the representation of the “Liberation of Prisoners” by a group of traditionalists from San Miguel de Allende, in which Ignacio Allende and Miguel Hidalgo in 1810 requested this action so that these men would join the contingent and the insurgent movement.
Afterwards, in the Salón de Cabildos of the Municipal Palace, the Secretary of the City Hall, Luisa Granados Saldaña, took the flag and lowered it to the president, who then gave it to the escort of the Public Security Secretariat to be guarded and transferred to the Casa de Allende Historical Museum, while the “Dragones de la Reina” War Band led the “toque de ordenanza”.
Gonzalo Gonzalez, interim mayor of San Miguel de Allende, walked to the house of Generalissimo Don Ignacio Allende accompanied by his entourage, the Queen of Fiestas Patrias and Regionales, Hannia I and the Queen of the Peasant, Maria de la Cruz I.
In this iconic venue, the interim mayor and his entourage awaited the arrival of the Symbolic Fire and the Libertarian Message from the city of Santiago de Querétaro brought by the athlete from San Miguel, Osvaldo Fabián Moreno Pérez, winner of the 74th edition of the Symbolic Race and the winner of the 66th edition of the Conspiracy Race, Yajamarita Moreno Pérez, and the winner of the 66th edition of the Conspiracy Race, Yajamarita Moreno Pérez. Conspiracy Race, Yajaira Shadany González Gómez.
Immediately, the Secretary of the City Hall read the advice that evokes the discovery of the Conspiracy issued, at that time, by the Corregidora Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez; with this, she gave the municipal president the opportunity to take again the Patriotic Flag and go to the main balcony and pronounce his harangue:
“Long live the heroes who gave us Homeland and Liberty! Long live Ignacio Allende! Long live Doña Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez! Long live the Aldama Brothers! Long live Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla! Long live Morelos! Long live the heroes who give their lives for the health of all! Long live the union and resistance of Mexicans to move this country forward! Long live the support and solidarity of all! Long live San Miguel de Allende! Long live Mexico! Long live Mexico! Long live Mexico! Long live Mexico!”, said Gonzalo Gonzalez.
Gaby Espinoza accompanied by Mariachi “Los Camperos”, the Thuhú Choir Network (from San Miguel de Allende) and DuHú (from Dolores Hidalgo); and Mariachi “Tequila y Mezcal”, originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco were in charge of providing a night of Mexican music.
