    Marking a historic 2023 in terms of numbers and awards, San Miguel de Allende closes the year rising among the best cities in the world.

    After consolidating itself as the cultural destination par excellence, the municipality saw an increase in its reception of visitors and tourists compared to 2022, exceeding the figure of 1,864,771 tourists, with more than 2 million visitors (2,055,981) who chose San Miguel as the best destination to visit, since, due to its historical and cultural essence, Its benefits offered and the warmth of its people, have made the traditions enjoyed in a unique way.

    San Miguel de Allende fulfilled his work as the Ambassador to Mexico and the World, by endorsing the tourism strategy of the municipal president, Mauricio Trejo, which, after an excellent work of the Municipal Government with the unions and the population, to offer a quality service, resulted in an economic spill of more than 6 billion pesos ($6,823,175,919). exceeding the 5 billion pesos set in 2022.

    By being designated as “The Jewel in the Crown” in the country, San Miguel de Allende continued with its work of showing itself as the Best Small City in the World after completing 2023, where it was recognized nationally and internationally by the best publishers Condé Nast and Mayors of Mexico, in addition to setting unparalleled figures in its history and consolidating its tourism strategies.

    What began with a New Year’s celebration, receiving more than 62 different nationalities, culminated with a 2023 where San Miguel continued to be listed as the emblem of Guanajuato before Mexico and the world, being awarded on multiple occasions, as well as having record figures in the economic spillover.

    The awards came at the best time, since they framed the public policy of Mayor Mauricio Trejo, to position the municipality Better Every Day: “This consolidates San Miguel de Allende as a world-class tourist destination and undoubtedly one of the most important destinations in the country. Not only does it show that San Miguel de Allende is solid on its own, but the municipal public policies that were implemented in 2023, on social development and security, working hand in hand with tourist attraction strategies, paid off. Today we have a municipality that has become an oasis in terms of security and a municipality that is generating a higher quality of life for its inhabitants and this translates into better treatment of tourists by the people of San Miguel. These strategies, which were implemented in 2023, will be improved by 2024 through all the information that could be gathered throughout this year, the needs of citizens and the needs and demands of cultural tourism that comes to San Miguel de Allende.”

    Thus, San Miguel de Allende took the palms on more than one occasion. In the first instance, it won the award for the “Best Practices of Local Governments” in the theme: Water Management by the magazine Alcaldes de México, after achieving an excellent administration of the vital liquid, recovering and distributing throughout the municipality. Later, it was Condé Nast’s turn to receive the award as the World’s Best Small City for the fourth time.

    Mayor Mauricio Trejo focused the tourism strategy on the union of the guilds, forging an alliance between the Municipal Government, each of the chambers, associations and the people of San Miguel, within which, offering experiences to visitors, they gave them reasons to return and thus, remain part of the Best Small Cities in the World.

    In addition to the sum of recognitions and figures, the World Heritage City stood out for having a security strategy at the forefront, generating that citizens have a better quality of life, which translates into a quality service for the visitor, achieving an increase both in economic spillover and in annual visitors.

    Closing a historic 2023, San Miguel de Allende continues to be Guanajuato’s Ambassador to Mexico and the world because he is getting better every day.
