19th century pipe organ to be brought to San Miguel de Allende

With the objective of bringing to San Miguel de Allende a pipe organ of the XIX century that the Methodist community had in the United States, Father Octavio Luna informed that some events will be carried out to collect funds that will allow the transfer of the instrument that will be used in the temple of the Third Order.

This instrument was built in 1875 in Williamstown, Massachussets and the Methodist community had it, but when they moved to another place they had to leave it, so the Franciscan fraternity of San Miguel de Allende has decided to bring it.

Octavio Luna said that this opportunity is unique and what better than to get to a place where it will be taken advantage of and can last another 150 years, “of course I am not speaking for myself as if it were my own effort, but I have behind me the support of the Corán San Miguel Asociación Civil”.

He assured that it is not only for the benefit of the building of the third order itself, but also for the city itself, since it is a historical piece that will enrich the cultural heritage of cultural goods for our city.

Now it is in the workshop, because 150 years ago it has done its thing, so it has been reviewed and although it is in good condition some corrections have to be made, for its 100 percent functionality.

In addition to this expense it is necessary to have money for the transfer, customs expenses, besides the experts have said that it will take approximately 3 months to assemble it, so it will be another expense in that time.

He concluded by saying that this is why he is asking for the support of San Miguel residents and foreigners who want to join the cause in order to raise funds and to be able to enjoy its sound in the near future.

They hope to raise 2 million pesos, so they will be doing events such as the next Easter Sunday, April 17 at 5 pm where they will present a choir of the Faculty of Arts of the Benemérita Universidad de Puebla, will have a cost of 500 pesos which will be donated to this project.
