    All the major artists that worked and taught in San Miguel de Allende during the 1940s, came from someplace else—either other cities in Mexico, or from other countries. But one man stands out as being a native son, and a great artist to boot.

    Jesus Nicolas Cuellar, a hometown boy, born and bred in San Miguel, was a true artist who left a major body of work in the city. He was named by the city as “The San Miguel painter for the world.” His works encompass a variety of styles, and are now on exhibit at Teatro Angela Peralta; they are indeed worth seeing.
