From August 11 to 21, San Miguel de Allende, a World Heritage City, will host the first edition of the Festival of the Arts (FASMA), a cultural event with Germany as the guest country.

San Miguel de Allende has been a reference for Mexican and foreign tourists thanks to its location, charm, traditions, gastronomy, and attractions, as well as its good weather; these qualities have turned the municipality into an ideal destination for a short or long weekend or an extended stay.

One of the segments promoted by the Ministry of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato in the tourism promotion strategy is culture, one of the main reasons for national and international tourists to travel, is who are motivated to know, understand and enjoy the set of distinctive and intellectual features and elements that characterize a society or social group.

The 1st edition of FASMA, organized by Casa Europa Mexico, will be an event projected to consolidate and become a tradition that offers new experiences to the people of San Miguel and to national and foreign visitors. This shows, once again, why this World Heritage City is the heart that makes Mexico and the world beat.

More than 25 of the city’s most important cultural organizations and associations have joined the initiative and call, to jointly present around 70 events of music, theater, film, dance, literature, and other expressions of the arts that, throughout the ten days of the festival, will occupy the consolidated cultural venues and public squares.

With this, and with the support of the municipal governments of San Miguel de Allende and the state of Guanajuato, it will be the epicenter of culture in Mexico.

Many of FASMA’s events will be free or will have a low recovery cost, with the aim that any segment of the population has access to the cultural and artistic offerings in the country.

“Art teaches us to see different types of reality, it takes us to other times and other worlds, it provokes empathy and makes us feel emotions; art sensitizes us and makes us want to be better. Currently, our country and the whole world need better human beings; we are convinced that with this project we will have an excellent path that will lead us to have a better society”, says Eduardo Adame, president of Casa Europa Mexico.

The official inauguration of FASMA will be on the 12th, at 5:00 p.m., and will be attended by authorities from the German Embassy in Mexico.
