The Center for Global Justice is a multi-cultural learning and research center located here in San Miguel. The CGJ is proud to present the first in a series of plays that reflect the Center’s mission and values.
The series begins with the “seriously funny” play—Yahweh the Floorwalker.
Mankind has suffered from wars fought in the name of “God” throughout history, e.g., the spread of Islam through Jihad, and the Christian Crusades. But before either of those were the accounts of conquest recorded in the Bible. The common thread is the fervent belief that “God is on our side”!
It is in this tragic context that Yahweh the Floorwalker manages to take a humorous look at the Hebrew invasion of Canaan–the so-called “Promised Land”–as detailed in the books of the Old Testament. What did Moses and Yahweh “really” discuss on Mount Sinai?
Yahweh the Floorwalker was one of the winners of an international competition sponsored by the Pittsburgh New Works Festival. This play is not to be missed!
