Profound apologies to everyone!! We’re late getting the word out, but don’t miss this week’s Playreaders.
“Dear Liar” graces the stage and you’ll be sorry if you miss it…
Hundreds of letters, moldering in a battered hat box, inveigle us into the lives of a renowned playwright and his equally famous muse. George Bernard Shaw and actress Mrs. Patrick Campbell write to each other over a period of thirty years, battling and bantering their way through the escalating events of their lives.
Out of this relationship, come some of the greatest plays of the 20th century, not the least being the classic comedy, ‘Pygmalion’, eventually morphing into the highly entertaining musical ‘My Fair Lady’
Feted and applauded through the Edwardian era to the beginning of World War II, we experience the heat and fire of their evocative writing and the emotion of their intimate encounters; their rage and desire, wit, calamity and forgiveness.
