For most of us, change is difficult. We often see it in terms of losing something familiar. Yet in a certain sense we know that change is inevitable, that everything changes. We can spend a lot of energy resisting change rather than looking at what opportunities change might bring. Author Johnathan Star observed “All change can bring one to a higher state, and the essential key to transformation on all levels is to accept change, to witness it, to honor it, to go with it, to see the glory of it.”
The start of the new year is a good time to consider what things we need to let go of in order to welcome the new. This Sunday morning, the Reverend Tom Rosiello will focus on our fear of change and the opportunities for greater good, greater service, and greater joy that we may be missing by resisting change. In Rev. Rosiello’s words, “This is a topic that relates to all levels of our lives: from the most personal, to the level of our community, to that of the survival of the planet itself.” Please join us to explore how you might embrace some change this year and what new joy that could bring to your life.
Reverend Tom Rosiello has been Minister of the San Miguel UU fellowship since 2019. He is a graduate of Harvard Divinity School and Suffolk University Law School in Boston. He is Minister Emeritus of the First Parish UU Church of Stow and Acton in Massachusetts. Tom and his partner, Malcolm Halliday, have lived in San Miguel de Allende since 2018.
Because of the sudden surge of the omicron variant of the corona virus, in-person services by reservation at the Aldea Hotel are suspended until further notice.
